Meetings


Meetings are held in the Village Hall, Angmering at 7.30 pm unless otherwise stated - you can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome. Non-members are also welcome.

Tuesday 19 Jan. 2010 "Sussex Windmills"
Speaker: Robert Bonnett
Robert Bonnett is an enthusiastic member of the Sussex Mills Group and has worked maintaining and restoring Nutley Post Mill for over 10 years. He has written a number of milling articles and is presently engaged in completing a history of mills around Uckfield. His talk will concentrate on the history, types and workings of English and Sussex windmills with attention to Angmering's former four mills, using slides where possible.

Tuesday 16 Feb. 2010 "Port of Arundel"
Speaker: Rosemary Hagedorn
Rosemary Hagedorn is a local historian living in Arundel. She is vice-chair of the Arundel Museum Society and is a local legend, recently giving a "Taltathon" of over 6 hours, without a script, on the town history. She will be restricted to our normal format here, but will be informative in her own charming manner, to tell us about the not so long ago times when the sea lapped Angmering, and providing maps to illustrate. She is an excellent speaker and will be donating any fee to her passion - the Museum.

Tuesday 16 Mar. 2010 "Coasting along Sussex"
Speaker: Geoffrey Mead
Geoffrey Mead MA (History) BA (Geography) who works for CCE, university of Sussex, is currently researching suburban housing for his doctorate (Ph.D.). Brighton born and bred with interests in both rural and urban SE England, his talk will cover aspects of the Sussex Coast showing relationships between historical landscape changes and population. Along the coast from Chichester Harbour to Rye, he will illustrate his talk with slides ranging from sands to piers in an entertaining presentation.

Tuesday 20 Apr. 2010 "Angmering School in the Community"
Speakers: David Brixey and Sue Broad
David Brixey is headteacher and Sue Broad is a deputy head at The Angmering School. Details of the talk are not yet available but it will focus on fostering a positive relationship with the community of Angmering. It is certain to be of great interest.
